FIRST INDIAN BIKER TO MAKE THIS ATTEMPT WITHOUT SPONSOR, and…….TO GET THIS FAR. This is already a WORLD RECORD!
Pune 12:50 pm. Thu.1.June.2006: Bhardwaj is now in Egypt. For those who are coming in late, he flew on 18th April 2006 (Last month) with his bike, an absolutely UN-SPONSORED Hero Honda Karizma (which is giving trouble now – Karizma owners & Hero Honda please note) to Tehran, and started riding from there. He rode around quite a bit in Iran, logging @ 300 km per day. He’s been to Isfahan (400 km south of Tehran, excellent roads) and also Quom (Quom means Race, as in genetics, not as in Valentino Rossi.) from where Ayatollah Khomeni ruled Iran many years ago.
Passing Tabriz in Iran, he entered Turkey @ a month ago, spent a few days in that part of Turkey, and rode south into Syria (avoiding Iraq for obvious reasons==look in map). Most countries in the world are mostly far smaller than Maharashtra=my state. Syria is smaller than Maharashtra in land area. Taking 2/3 days to ride across Syria, Bharadwaj crossed into Jordan, where he did S.C.U.B.A. diving, in the Gulf of Aqaba, which is the junction of FOUR countries at war==Egypt, Israel, Jordan and Saudi.
From Aqaba, he has rided across the Sinai Peninsula and took Ferry-boat across the RED sea to mainland Egypt, which is where he is now! Please note that Hero Honda Karizma is giving problem, and no support is available from Hero Honda.
Bharadwaj will soon start riding north again, through the same countries (Jordan & Syria) to Turkey. In Turkey he will ride west, and if he is still alive, will reach Istanbul by mid-June.
Stay tuned with this adventure,
